CFA charterholders and CIPM certificants are governed by strict ethical guidelines that govern their designation.
CFA Institutes Code of Ethics has six provisions. They are to act with integrity, competence,
diligence, respect, and in an ethical manner; to place the integrity of the investment
profession and the interests of clients above one’s own interests; to use reasonable
care and exercise independent professional judgment; to practice and encourage
others to practice in a professional and ethical manner; to promote the integrity of,
and uphold the rules governing, capital markets; and to maintain and improve one’s
professional competence and to strive to maintain the competence of other investment
